Wedding Gowns Do's & Don't's

July 16th 2010 17:46
If you are in the market for a wedding gown and have been wondering where to begin, you’ve come to the right place.

Be sure to call the planned bridal shops you want to visit ahead of time as most require appointments especially on weekends when they are packed.

First thing to remember is that you should always take your time for such a big decision as a gown that you will wear that will you put you as the center of attention for a whole day! Choose your gown wisely. Plan to bring with you only your closest family and friend members who will be honest with you to help you choose the gown. Plan to try on several different styles of gowns. You may be surprised how different and wonderful they look on you.

Try to avoid buying your gown from a Bridal shop that is going out of business. It is doubtless they will care or may not even be around if you have a problem when you need them. It could be a nightmare.

You should plan to order your gown at least 6 months in advance to give yourself plenty of time. You will need possible hemming or altering. There may be some minor repairs like loose beads or sequins. Check your gown over with a fine tooth when it comes in, do not expect the bridal shop to do it. They will usually press it free of charge before the wedding for you.

Always choose your gown first and then your veil. Your shoes will be the last thing you will decide.

E-Bay and Your Wedding

June 15th 2010 18:10
Do you wonder how you can save big money on your wedding in a bad economy? Well, E-Bay can certainly help you out with that. If you haven’t done so yet, let your fingers show you the deals you can find to save yourself big bucks on E-Bay, now is the time to start!

Flowers

There are many private professional people who just do silk flowers for entire wedding parties on E-Bay. Try doing a search on Wedding Bouquets, wedding flowers etc and see how many you find. Make sure you check out their feed back to make sure they have an excellent rating as you don’t want anything messed up for your wonderful day. Read about how the items are shipped, asked the seller questions if you must before you even buy anything and see how they treat their potential customers. Are they polite? Do they answer promptly? You will see some of the best bargains on flowers on E-Bay. This includes center pieces, grooms and groomsmen flowers, and reception flowers. You can find just about anything you want.

Wedding dresses

Yes you can even find that lovely wedding gown online on E-Bay and Brand new. You can have it custom fit to your size. Some businesses on E-Bay are set up to do this. Make sure you read all about these places as some may be as far away as China and you will need to allow time for your dress to be shipped. You will be providing exact measurements to the seller in these cases.

Bridesmaids/ flower girl dresses

Don’t forget the bridesmaids and flower girl when you are looking for dresses and accessories. You can even order online saving lots of money and then have it altered separately. Make sure you do this all in plenty of time to save aggravation in case something should go wrong. If you don’t feel comfortable with ordering dresses online, at least take advantage of all the accessories. There is so much more to choose from when buying online.

Bridal Accessories

You will find tiaras, hair combs, gloves, shoes, and stockings. These can all be found new on E-Bay at any given time. When searching for these items, be specific in color or size and you can narrow your search down. Inquire about combined shipping if you are purchasing several items at once from a seller. This will save you some postage.

Wedding Favors

There are some businesses that will do custom wedding favors on E-Bay. You can also find the items on E-Bay cheap that will help you create your own favor which will save even more money. Remember to bargain shop on E-Bay just like you would in any store. Don’t use the first person you find but look at the overall picture and choose the best one.

Bridesmaids/Grooms Gifts on E-Bay

There are lots of potential gifts that you can use for your Bridesmaids, Maid of Honor, Groom, Groomsmen etc. You never have to use standard gifts but whatever you are looking for, you are certainly bound to find it on E-Bay.

Wedding Guest etiquette

May 4th 2010 18:55
Even the guests of the wedding need some advice at times. If you are a guest of a future wedding and not sure of what to wear or how to act, this article is for you. Heck, even people who have gone to dozens of weddings still have not caught on to wedding etiquette for guests.
The most sensitive topic will be covered first. You may not agree with this but in most cases the Bride will agree. Do not wear white to the wedding, and I will go as far to say not even off white. This color is reserved for the bride only. This does not matter if the Bride has been married previously. It seems people like to make up their own rules but this has been a long time tradition. A bride is a bride, so let’s keep all shades of white for her special day. Guests can have any other color they would like to choose to wear. There is no need to try to outdo the bride so one color (a pure one) is reserved for that special lady. All eyes should be focused on the lady of the day, the Bride.
The price of the gift is usually based on the budget of the guest. It is always better to give gift cards or check than cash. The reason is because usually the Bride and Groom leave for their honeymoon almost immediately after the wedding. They won’t be stopping at the bank to make deposits.
Most wedding invitations have a space for a guest or a spouse. Bringing your spouse or a date is customary and usually not a problem unless it is a private ceremony just for family.
Don’t bring small children to weddings unless you check with the Bride first. Only if a child is in the wedding is it acceptable unless the Bride says ok. Seriously, though, some Brides will just say yes because they don’t want to hurt people’s feelings. Try to make sure you are not imposing on the wedding if you must bring a child to the wedding. Never bring babies to a wedding unless the Bride herself requests that you do. It is a long event for a baby and a huge embarrassment if one cries during a beautiful ceremony.
Choosing sides of bride or groom is very simple. If you are related to one or the other that is the side you sit on. If you’re not related to either, then choose the one you met first. If you met both at the same time, take your pick.
It seems that some people don’t seem to know what is off limits to talk about at the wedding. When it comes to the Bride and Groom, anything personal about their lives which is not public knowledge, is off limits. This includes, past relationships, embarrassing moments, and anything that could pose as an embarrassment to them on their special day. Believe me; it will get back to them.
Always remember, that all focus is to be on making this a wonderful day for the Bride and Groom!

Wedding Gloves

March 27th 2010 19:30
You may be wondering if you should wear wedding gloves with your wedding gown. Nowadays, you can wear gloves if you choose to. You do not have to wear gloves in this day and age though. It’s a matter of preference and personal style, though there are a few rules to the game of gloves. If you are wearing a sleeveless or halter gown, you should wear long wedding gloves. Of course, if you have long sleeves, your only option is to wear short to the wrist gloves, but probably is unnecessary.
Gloves will dress up the occasion even more if that’s what you’re looking for. The only difficult part is when the exchanging of rings is done. In this situation, you can just gracefully remove the wedding gloves and give them to your maid of honor to hold while you exchange your vows.
Most likely, if you are planning an informal wedding like a beach wedding, you will not consider wedding gloves. If it is very hot weather as well you may not want to consider extra clothing to add to your attire.

Preserve A Wedding Cake

February 10th 2010 16:20
If you’re getting married anytime soon, here is the best way to preserve a wedding cake to insure that it will make it to your first anniversary celebration. There is no guarantee it will taste as fresh as the day of your wedding but it will look appealing and survive the ordeal.
After you carefully get the top tier of your wedding cake safely home, there are certain methods to preserve it properly. The first step to help preserve your wedding cake the right way is to put it in the refrigerator to chill it. This will prevent the icing from sticking to anything it is wrapped with. Most likely, the frosting will be soft anyway by the time you get it home so its best to chill it first. This will insure that you preserve the wedding cake properly and you lose as little of the icing as possible. If you are leaving immediately for your honeymoon and won’t have time to do it, send it home with a friend who you trust with instructions on what to do.
The best thing to wrap your wedding cake in is Saran Wrap or a similar brand plastic wrap. This will help your wedding cake to be as moist and tasty as it can be when you thaw it out a year later. You should wrap it carefully but not too tightly.

Plan A Cheap Honeymoon

February 9th 2010 20:07
If you don't want to create a huge amount of debt before you're even married, learn how to plan a cheap honeymoon.
When you want to plan a cheap honeymoon, you must have a budget. A cheap honeymoon is only inexpensive but that doesn't mean it will be less enjoyable or even less luxurious. It can be exciting and wonderful but for less money. Decide how much you will set aside for the budget and stick to it. Consider the time of year you are getting married in and whether it is off season or the peak of the season at the place you want to honeymoon at.
Set aside some time to list your top 5 locations you want to go. Make a list so you can eliminate as you go, according to your budget.

Saving Money on Wedding Music

December 20th 2009 21:09
If you’re looking to save money somewhere on your wedding, the wedding music may be the area you can save. Although, music and entertainment is an enjoyable part of the reception, paying a lot for the music may not make much of a difference. Let’s face it’s more about the people you’re with then who is actually doing the music. I’ve been to weddings that hire high cost entertainment that was ok and weddings that hire not so expensive DJ’s that were much more fun!

It’s ok to hire an Amateur D.J. You can find these types of talents in high schools and colleges. It’s not hard to find them, just ask around, or call your local schools. Have them do an audition for you.

Bridal Wedding Gowns

November 30th 2009 02:15
Becoming a bride to be is one of the most thrilling times in ones life. Taking time to make decisions and choices is best done one step at a time. One of those first choices will be your wedding bridal gown.

There are many decisions to make when you have become a Bride to Be. When it comes to the gown for your wedding, there are many choices to make as well. First, you should decide on the design of your gown. You can choose formal, informal or semi-formal. The most formal gowns will be long and extravagantly adorned with pearls and trimmings. The informal will mostly be short to the knee and much simpler in trimmings. The semi-formal may be long or short with much more elaborate trimmings than the informal dress. Informal dresses may be in many colors. Formal dresses traditional are in satin white or off white colors.
