How To Choose the Wedding Venue
July 20th 2008 10:00
Choosing your wedding venue is the first task you might want to focus on when planning a wedding (of course, that is after you’ve decided on a date). Here are some pointers to consider when choosing a location:
THINK PERSONALITY
You and your partner might start looking at your personality to give you an idea of where you want to be wed. This is perhaps how some couples decide to wed underwater because they both like scuba diving. If you can’t think of something that is common between you as individuals, then consider your relationship. For example, as a couple you love spending time in a garden (then a garden wedding might be in place).
CONSIDER THE SEASON
Not every single day is expected to be sunny, so keep that in mind when selecting your wedding venue. If you’ve set your wedding date on a rainy season, an outdoor venue should be the last thing on your mind. If you chose a date when the sun is supposed to be shining brightly then take advantage of the clear sky and don’t confine yourselves and your guests in a hotel ballroom. Also consider what time of the day your wedding is set to take place. Beach weddings are appealing for day or sunset weddings but if everything’s pitch black and you couldn’t even capture the sparkle of the sea on your background try to choose some place else. Nevertheless, don’t forget to make a plan B in case that ever changing weather decided to play tricks on you.
THINK OF YOUR BUDGET
Don’t spend all your hard-earned money on trying to get your wedding booked in that five star hotel just because you think it grand to have your wedding there even if you sacrifice your budget for the rest of the stuffs that you have to pay for. Go to different possible venues, inspect the place, ask for quotations, study your options and then decide. Never jump on the first location that captured your heart even if it would empty your pocket.
It would also be good if the venue could throw in some extras with your renting out their place.
CONSIDER PROXIMITY
Whenever we invite people to come to our wedding there is usually a common area where most of them will come from. Think of how far the venue is from everyone else’s point of origin. Would it be easy for your guests to get there? As much as possible, choose a place that is accessible to most of the guests that you want to invite and also to where the bride, the groom and their families would be coming from.
USE YOUR IMAGINATION
You don’t have to stick with the traditional when choosing a location. Trying to personalize it would just make it more memorable and enjoyable for you and your guests. Aim to go where no one has gone before, that is, as long as you still keep in mind the other pointers stated above.
