Wedding Cakes for Less

August 22nd 2009 00:06
If you’re on a budget for your wedding and you want to save on cake here are some clues as to how to do that. Most of the cake gets wasted anyway so paying a bakery per person is a huge waste of money.
The first way you can save on Wedding cakes is by paying someone to make up a fake cake. Its substance is Styrofoam and looks so perfect and then a amateur cake decorator can icing it and decorate. You could even decorate it yourself with fresh or silk flowers to match the wedding colors. This won’t cost very much at all. As for the real cake, it can be sheet cakes that are being cut for the guests in the kitchen. You may also want to have a beautiful small round decorated cake for the Bride and Groom cake cutting.

You could also save if you had a friend or relative make the cake for you. It would be much cheaper than hiring a bakery. Ask around and you may find someone who knows someone as well. You should plan on asking for snap shots of their previous work. Make sure they have some prior experience with wedding cakes.
You could bake the cake yourself if you are a cake expert. Only do this if you have the expertise and if you’re sure you can handle it.
Last of all, you may be able to find a reasonable bakery for your wedding cake. You can still have sheet cakes done to save money and have a one or two tier cake for the table and for the cake cutting. Remember, It’s always good to cut corners, but not in quality for your Wedding cake. See the link below to learn how to preserve your wedding cake.
