Top Ten Home-Made Items for your Wedding

May 24th 2011 18:37

1.Wedding cake- if you’re really good at making cakes and have done someone’s wedding or you have your own business it may be worth it. Make sure you will have the time and patience to get it right.

2.Wedding flowers- Are you good at making bouquets and arrangements and do you love to create things? This is very doable if you are creative and enjoy making arrangements and bouquets. You could make these from fresh flowers but it would be easier to make them from silk. This way you could make them ahead and store them.

3.Centerpieces- these could be flowery or not. They could be candle centerpieces, made of candy etc. If you enjoy being creative you could design your own centerpiece for each of the tables.

4.Wedding favors- These are the most fun thing to make for your wedding. They can be simple or more complex and creative. You can have this match your theme as well. It can be candy, like mints or Hershey kisses or it could be a little handmade picture frame for your guests. This will save you a ton of money and you could recruit the wedding party to help.

5.Wedding dress- If you are a seamstress or someone who can sew really well, then you may want to sew your own dress. You will need plenty of time and should start this at least 6 months prior to wedding.

6 Wedding card box- This is the box that your guests will put their wedding gift cards in. You can take an average size box and wrap it with wedding paper and lace. Make a slit at the top for cards to be dropped in it. Tie some wedding balloons to it so that people will notice it.

7.Wedding necklace and matching earrings. This will take some skill but at craft stores you can find books with patterns that take you step by step

.
8.Bridesmaid gifts – If you feel you have the time for this it can be done. To make a nice gift, it will take some time and thought though.

9.Pillow for rings – You can easily make a silk pillow to hold the rings and if you have a sewing machine, this won’t take much time at all. You can buy a pillow pattern or design you own.

Wedding, marriage, wed

10.Cookies, pastries, small desserts for the reception. This can actually be fun to do and these types of things can be frozen ahead of time and thawed out later. It will save a ton of money too.
