Ideas for a Themed Wedding
September 8th 2008 22:30
Most couples nowadays would want to jump out of the box and do away with traditional weddings; thus, they resort to themed weddings.
Figuring out what theme to use in your wedding could be as challenging (and as fun) as the rest of the preparations is. This has to be one of the first decisions that have to be done as most of the other considerations will revolve around this.
Here are some tips on where to pull out your idea for a wedding theme:
GO FOR A SPECIFIC COLOR
This is a common theme inspiration that couples to use. They go for a single color as an accent to white (which is the common wedding color) or the main color itself. Some beautiful colors for a wedding (and they register well in photos) are royal blue, tangerine, apple green, and yellow among many others.
CHECK OUT YOUR FAVORITES
You can pull inspiration from things that you and your partner love. For example, you both love going to coffee shops and hanging out, then you can have a coffee themed wedding. Pet or animal lovers can have a jungle or animal themed wedding. A movie themed wedding can be applied for couples who love watching movies together.
MAKE IT CULTURE SPECIFIC OR FUSION
For couples of mixed marriages or nationalities, your cultural background or ethnicity could inspire your wedding theme. Your theme can be culture specific of make it a fusion of 2 or more cultures. For example, a Filipina will be wed to an English man, they can either have a Filipiniana inspired wedding or an English-inspired wedding or (all the more interesting) a Filipiniana-English themed wedding. It would be fun to see a fusion of two cultures joined by love and act of matrimony.
HONOR YOUR BRIDE
Most people say that between the bride and groom, the wedding day is more of a bride’s day – she is the center of attention, she has to be the most stunning lady on that day. If that is so, why not make of a theme that would center of femininity or womanhood? You can give this chance to your bride to have a princess or queen themed wedding. You can make her fairy tale come true with a fairy or fantasy themed wedding or shower her (and your) special day with flowers in a floral-themed wedding.
BRING IN THE SEASON
You can also have a play with a season of your choice. For example, if you are having an indoor wedding on a non-summer season but want to have a splash of the beach on your wedding day you can then resort to a beach themed wedding. You can also do a beach themed wedding in summer if you are having it indoors. That will save you a fair bit on getting your guests and family to a destination wedding.
