Wedding Color Scheme: White and Colorful
August 6th 2008 05:31
Picky… picky… picky… that’s how some brides are when it comes to choosing their wedding color scheme. If for some reason your eyes are going in circles from looking for and comparing different color schemes and your head is spinning from trying to decide which color to choose here’s a simple suggestion that you might want to consider – Why not go for white and colorful?
What I mean by this is quite simple. Make your base color white and throw in a mixture of different colors as a contrast to it.
Here are a few ideas:
Bridesmaids’ dress
Get them to choose a gown in plain, pure white. To accessorize their gown here are a few suggestions:
• Tie a thick colored sash around their waist, hips or just under the bust line for that empire-cut look. You may have chosen to use pastel green, pastel pink and pastel blue as your highlight color and get your bridesmaid’s sash to be a color of each.
• Buy 3 different colored cords or ribbon that you can braid together and use as a belt to tie around their hips.
• A silk or transparent bolero or shrug of your chosen accent color is a nice way to accessorize as well.
• Get your bridesmaids to wrap a colored shawl around their shoulders or they can also wound it around their neck like a scarf.
• Make some handmade string of beads of your accent color and get your ladies in waiting to tie this around their hips or waist like a fashionable belt.
Cake
A white cake is traditional in weddings so choosing white as your base color could definitely jive with your white cake. You can opt to decorate it simply with edible pearls of your chosen accent colors scattered just around the cake.
Alternatively, you can also stick real or edible flowers of different colors on the cake base.
Venue Decorations
Make your venue feel and look heavenly by scattering dozens and dozens of white balloons all over the floor. Might be a bit tricky to walk on, true. But you could surely create that heavenly effect. This would be more possible if your venue is indoors and surrounded by walls, floors and ceiling. You can also let some white balloons drift on the ceiling. Just make sure to keep it away from the lights.
Bride’s Gown
While the bridesmaids wear white accented gowns that gives the bride the perfect excuse to opt out of the traditional white gown. Just so the bride would not be too off with what is traditional, she can choose something like ecru, pearl, light mocha, very light powder blue or champagne.
Bridal Bouquet
With the bride wearing an off-white gown, she can be holding a very white bouquet. White lilies, white rose buds, white tulip… the possibilities are sometimes endless.
